RFID label construction and antenna integration

Specify the surface, adhesive, environment and converting format alongside the chip.

Start with the object

Record the material, curvature and available application area. Metal, liquids and nearby conductive structures can affect RF behavior. Test the label in its intended position, with the item filled, closed or assembled as it will be in use.

Match the adhesive to the task

Describe whether the label is permanent or removable, the application temperature and the surface condition. Consider texture, oil, moisture and cleaning processes. Ask for an adhesive recommendation and verify it using real samples.

Specify the finished dimensions

Distinguish antenna dimensions from the finished label outline. Include the material, print area, corner requirements and placement tolerances. An antenna that fits the outline may still need RF validation after converting.

Define roll and printer requirements

For automated application or thermal printing, specify roll direction, core diameter, maximum outer diameter, pitch, liner width and printer model. Confirm the delivery format before production so the labels fit your process.

Validate after application

Check adhesion, readability and print durability after representative handling and exposure. Any required ingress, chemical, temperature or abrasion rating must be agreed for the specific construction; it cannot be inferred from the RFID chip.
