EM4205 IC specifications

SpecificationDetails
Semiconductor ICEM4205
Interface / protocolLF; EM4469/EM4569 compatible command protocol
Operating frequency100–150 kHz; nominal 125 kHz application
Total EEPROM512 bits; 16 words of 32 bits
User data areaWords 5–13: 288 bits in the default message; additional uses defined by the memory map
Factory identifier32 bits
Access protection32 bit password for protected read and write operations
Data encodingManchester or biphase; configuration dependent
Memory protectionWord protection can prevent further writes

Memory and protocol values describe the IC. Actual read performance depends on the finished antenna, enclosure, reader and operating environment.

512 bits is the total EEPROM, including UID, password, configuration and protection words. It is not 512 bits of unrestricted application storage.

Select data rate and modulation to match the installed reader. IC limits do not establish the temperature rating of the finished product.

Integration and qualification

Validate the modulation, bit rate and identifier format with the installed low frequency reader. NFC phones do not read 125 kHz credentials. For programmed formats, agree a sample identifier and confirm how the host system interprets it.

Define finished label size, antenna footprint, application surface and adhesive. For rolls, include winding direction, pitch, liner width, core diameter and printer model. An IC option may require a minimum antenna size.

Approve an encoded sample in the finished application before volume production. Define acceptance criteria for identification, memory access, printed data and repeated operation.

Define your production requirement.
